BIO

Jason Reimer is a musician, filmmaker and producer, making his way from the Chicago suburbs to California, then Texas. After years of recording four tracks and demo tapes he began releasing music under the moniker History at Our Disposal in Denton TX and working as a sound engineer. While playing in bands like Baptist Generals (Sub Pop) and producing for other groups in the area, he started creating experimental films that were incorporated into an increasingly elaborate live performance. His first film composing gig, “JESUS HENRY CHRIST, (dir Denis Lee) won an Academy Award for student comedy 2003. More films scores followed along with commercial work for brands like Jack Daniels and Coca-Cola, as well as cutting trailers and music for post production houses. Eventually Reimer moved behind the camera to direct music videos, including Baptist Generals, Sarah Jaffe (kirtland records) and Mind Spiders (dirtnap) and began making narrative material.

In 2013 he directed the infomercial “FOREVER for GOOD/BAD Art Collective that was televised nationally on CBS. In 2015 he wrote and directed the short film "THE OBJECT”, followed by FIGUREHEAD starring Harry Goaz (Twin Peaks, St, Nick) and Brandy Burre (The Wire) as a fictional interview companion to coincide with the David Lynch television series reboot. At this time he co-founded creative production shingle TALENTED FRIENDS as a hub for the output that now included photography and film production as well as podcasts like STRANGE with journalist Christopher Wynn and Spoke Media. In 2015 he optioned the book “Chitlin Circuit” (Preston Lauterbach) about the history of music in America that is now currently in development as a TV series. In 2020 Talented Friends published the first collection of photography with actor Harry Goaz entitled “BALLROOM HARRY” (Deep Vellum Press).

Reimer is also co-founder / partner of the Oak Cliff Film Festival and Aviation Cinemas operators of the Texas Theatre where he’s served as Creative Director since its inception in 2010 and is an owner of the historic property who continues to assist in its renovation and programming. A rich history in multi-media production continues to inform his creative collaborations, some of which are listed below.
